Element 5: Stand Against Violence

Element 5 don't take safety seriously - and we already knew that. Over the past 2 years there have been over 100 serious incidents on ElementFive/VCON sites including a fatality.

When our OHS team drew attention to the fact that people die on their work sites, one of our women organisers got this in an email from an Element 5 site manager:

                                                                "Fuck off you scum c**t!

I will track you down and attack you and your family"

This is gendered violence. This is sexism. These are threats. This isn't bloody on.

Join health and safety activists, the Stop Gendered Violence Crew, the CFMEU and Trades Hall on Thursday the 20th at 12.30pm to demand that the site manager who sent this email be disciplined, and to let Element 5 know that all workers have the right to go to work and feel safe and respected, and that Worksafe needs to hurry up and recognise that sexism and violence against women causes physical and psychological injury - and hold employers accountable.

We'll be taking a bus down to the Port Melbourne offices from Trades Hall - meet us here at 11.45, ready to leave by 12pm. Make sure you RSVP for a seat on the bus!
